Happy Birthday PopCykol! You’re 3.

Teressa at the United Nations General Assembly

As I write this, I realize my blog has been neglected and I have missed big events, like my UN Keynote presentation that occurred in March 2023. Twelve days in NYC and experiences beyond your belief will do that to you. I haven’t forgotten that experience, it’s just that it was pretty overwhelming to sort through all the videos, pictures, and tasks that led up to it and after it. I can finally say the experience has sunk in enough for me to write about it (next month). We’ll just call it the anniversary blog.

Today, I want to celebrate three years from the creation, the idea, the start of PopCykol. We’ve come a long way, baby! We’ve traveled to Phoenix, NYC, and up and down the Colorado Front Range to share PopCykol. I landed major clients, schools, and non-profits along the way. The most important piece is that we found each other. You are important to me, whether we’ve met online, in-person, or not yet, you’re journey with PopCykol is significantly important to me. It means you find us as a trusted source for cybersecurity awareness and education. You find our message welcoming and our resources easy to follow for yourself, a parent, grandparent, or kiddo.

I’m grateful to those people who have supported PopCykol since 2021 and to all new supporters. I’m encouraged by the direction we’re heading. PopCykol, with the help of Kemi, our web designer extraordinaire, completely refreshed the site so it’s easier to find information and we’ve added the new page, Sweetz Cafe, a special place for the kids to go and explore simple, and informative cyber resources. Please take a look. The resources and games are downloadable, printable, and FREE.

This year we’re focused on taking PopCykol to the next level in marketing. We’re going to focus more on our target demographic and adjust our tactics to be more successful in spreading the news about what we have to offer, which still includes the Password curriculum (on our online school site, PopCykool), our basic cyber 101 PopCykol Tips, such as Cyberbullying, Netiquette, Phishing, Multi-Factor Authentication, and Passwords. These continue to trick the humans and so we are going to drive home the importance of good cyber hygiene, in simpler terms, how best to protect your privacy, data, and home network. We are always looking for Collaboration Partners who are committed to the effort of keeping our precious, curious kids online safe. And, you can email me directly to book a corporate or family presentation.

We’re in the process of developing a subscriber feature and a Shopify site because we’ve been collecting some super sweet swag and can’t wait to share that with you in the future. If you have any comments or feedback you’d like to share please feel free to connect with us. I really do want to hear from you and your insight or listen to you share a story about how we helped you or if you can help us. Our relationship is a two-way street and we’re all ears.

Here’s a look at some pictures over the year. See you next month for that blog about the UN ;)
